Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today demanded a probe into the money trail to find out on whose behalf Deputy Inspector General of Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar was collecting ill gotten wealth and to whom it’s proceedings were being transferred.

Addressing a press conference here, senior SAD leader Parambans Singh Romana said “Punjabis have a right to know where money being looted from the people of the State is going. Is it being used to contest elections in other States or going directly into the hands of AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal”. He said the very fact that chief minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were silent on this issue indicated that they had a lot of hide. “The CBI probe must concentrate on this aspect to uncover the entire corruption modus operandi of the ‘Kattar Imandaar Party”.

Asserting that the real face of AAP had been exposed post the CBI raid on DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar and his subsequent arrest, Mr Parambans Romana said “it is now clear that a government which claims it has zero tolerance towards corruption is not only tolerating corruption but also promoting and facilitating it”.

Mr Romana also questioned why the Vigilance and Intelligence wings of the State government had failed to detect the corrupt activities of DIG Harcharan Bhullar and not taken any action against him till now. “The chief minister claims that a leaf cannot move in the State without his approval. How is it possible that this level of corruption including crores of rupees was taking place and the chief minister was unaware of it? Is it because the AAP government has kept its own set of blue eyed boys in the civil and police machinery to collect bribes for it?”, he asked.

Asserting that the Vigilance department seemed to have been tasked with targetting only opposition leaders, Mr Romana said “this is why the CBI had to step in to probe large scale corruption charges against Bhullar as well as sale of posts to corrupt officers in Punjab”.

The Akali leader while condemning the silence of the chief minister on this sensitive issue, said the chief minister was shamelessly indulging in public tamashas and bad mouthing opposition leaders but did not have one word to say on corruption in his government.

He also castigated the Punjab Congress and it’s senior leaders including Partap Singh Bajwa and Amarinder Singh Raja Warring for not condemning the multi- crore corruption unleashed by DIG Bhullar. “Earlier the chief minister has also claimed in the Vidhan Sabha that he has prove of corrupt activities of senior Congress leaders including Raja Warring but has not taken action against them. This means there is a secret understanding between AAP and the Congress on this issue”, he added.

YAD leader Sarabjit Singh Jhinjher was also present on the occasion.
