Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party senior leader and State Media In-charge Baltej Pannu strongly countered the statement made by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami, in which he said, “Has the government started considering itself above Sri Akal Takht Sahib?”

Addressing the media during a press conference on Thursday, Pannu categorically clarified that the government has never considered itself above Sri Akal Takht Sahib, nor does it have any such intention, because Sri Akal Takht Sahib is supreme for us.

Taking SGPC President Dhami head-on, Pannu questioned why Dhami Sahib starts diverting attention whenever questions are asked about the serious issue of 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji going missing. Is this noise intentional to evade accountability? Has he begun to consider himself above Guru Sahib?

Baltej Pannu stated that the matter of the 328 missing sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is an extremely sensitive issue directly connected with the sentiments of the Sikh sangat. Whenever justice or clarification is sought in this matter, Dhami Sahib attempts to suppress the issue by terming it “government interference.”

Pannu also expressed shock over Dhami’s recent statement in which he admitted that 10–20 scams take place daily in SGPC. He asked Dhami Sahib to tell the sangat what kind of scams these are. Are they related to financial embezzlement, forged receipts, or corruption during construction works? He said this statement is extremely serious and reflects how deep-rooted corruption has become within the institution itself.
