Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A lecture was organised in the law auditorium of Panjab University on the topic ‘ Sacrifice, equality and moral authority: Sikh History, Guru Teg Bahadur and the Panj Pyare in the Indian Civilisational Ethos’. The key note speaker of the event was Shri Iqbal Singh Lalpura, former Chairman National Commission for minorities and a prolific writer. Shri Banveer Singh Ji was the Chief Guest of the event who is a renowned social activist, researcher and RSS Pracharak. The event was also presided over by the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University Professor Renu Vig, Bhai Gurpreet Singh Dalal (13th Generation of Bhai Dharam Singh Ji) and Dr Soran Singh who is the President of UP chapter of Global Punjabi Association.

During the event Shri Banveer Singh ji stressed upon the great and rich Sikh History and how sikhism has always established examples of courage, valour and sacrifice. He also laid stress upon the deep roots of Sikhism in the rich culture of our nation India and that the sacrifice of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur ji is unparalleled to any other sacrifice in the Indian history.
Shri Iqbal Singh Lalpura ji also during his address stressed upon the need for a deep rooted further research on the rich Sikh history and the need to have a broader vision to understand Sikhism and Sikhi. He touched around all the major events of Sikh history and also the history of great Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh ji. He also stressed upon the fact that how Sikhism talks about togetherness and collectiveness. He also laid stress upon the fact that how the current government considers Sikhism as a distinct religion and that is one out of the possible reasons for making him the Chairman of the National Minority Commission.
But a few organisations working across Punjab and Panjab University are trying to fabricate a false narrative by continuously trying to create a divide between the Hindu Sikh community and are trying to hamper the secular fabric of this nation and Panjab University. The role of these organisations has been questioned time and again by the neutral students of Panjab University because of their dividing narratives even during the senate elections protest in Panjab University
These elements are trying to disturb the environment of Panjab University and are trying to spread a false message just to gain political benefits. They tried to disturb the lecture in a number of ways but it was of no success and the students by attending the lecture proved that even in the future their false narrative and propagandas can’t hamper the academic and harmonious environment of Panjab University
