Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Mohali SSP Harmandeep Hans held a press conference regarding the murder of kabaddi player and promoter Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauriya during a tournament in Mohali, Punjab. The SSP stated that Aditya and Karan of Amritsar shot Rana.

The SSP said, "Kabaddi player and promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh alias Rana Balachauriya is linked to gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. He had a feud with gangster Lucky Patial of the Bambiha gang. Rana was murdered at the behest of Lucky Patial and his associate Doni Bal. He had sent these shooters." The SSP said, "We have identified two shooters. One shooter is Aditya Kapoor alias Makhan and the other is Karan Pathak, both residents of Amritsar. Both fired the shots. The identity of the third shooter has been identified, but his identity cannot be revealed yet."

The SSP said, "Aditya Kapoor and Karan Pathak are both associated with shooter Doni Bal's gang. Aditya has 15 cases registered against him, while Karan also has two cases registered against him. Their entire records have been obtained. Their names were also mentioned in the post claiming responsibility after the murder." The SSP said, "The people involved in this murder have no direct connection with Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. It seems that Moosewala's name was used to sensationalize and justify the incident." The SSP said, "This murder was committed with the intention of controlling or dominating Kabaddi. Rana Balachauriya was a big name in the field of Kabaddi. Gangsters try to dominate wherever they are active."

The responsibility for Rana's murder has been claimed by the gang of notorious shooter Davinder Bambiha, now led by gangster Lucky Patial, based in Armenia. The Bambiha gang claims that Rana's murder avenged the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. Rana had arranged for Moosewala's killers to stay.
