Survey on BJP–SAD alliance in Punjab sparks buzz after viral video; leaders of both parties deny involvement

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): With the Punjab Assembly elections scheduled for 2027, speculation over a possible alliance between the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified. Amid ongoing political discussions and statements, a viral video clip has further fuelled the debate. The clip appears to show a survey in which people are being questioned about a potential alliance between the two parties and their voting preferences.
However, leaders from both the BJP and SAD have completely denied any involvement in such a survey. They have clarified that no survey of this kind is being conducted on behalf of their parties. This has raised questions about who is actually behind the survey circulating online.
The survey surfaced at a time when talks and speculation about a BJP–SAD alliance are at their peak. Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has openly supported an alliance between the two parties and has even made public statements in favour of it. In contrast, the BJP’s state leadership has largely refrained from commenting, stating that any decision regarding an alliance will be taken by the party high command.
Meanwhile, the alleged survey continues to dominate political discussions. The viral video on social media reportedly features two questions. The first asks whether people support an alliance between the SAD and BJP. The second question asks whom they would vote for if the SAD and BJP contest the 2027 Assembly elections together.
