Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu): Counting of votes for the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election is underway at Mai Bhago International College of Nursing, Piddi. The election results are being seen as a key indicator for the 2027 state elections.


Tarn Taran Assembly by-election: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is facing a strong competition from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) led for three consecutive rounds. Harmeet Sandhu of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) then took the lead. After the 10th round, the AAP candidate is leading by 7,294 votes.


AAP's lead has been steadily increasing over the past seven rounds. Seeing this, SAD candidate Sukhwinder Randhawa left the counting center and went home. Meanwhile, Mandeep Singh Khalsa of Akali Dal-Waris Punjab, the party of pro-Khalistan MP Amritpal, has come in third. Congress candidate Karanbir Singh Burj is in fourth place, and BJP candidate Harjeet Sandhu is in fifth place.
