Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu): The Election Commission has taken a major step ahead of the Tarn Taran by-election. In order to ensure a free and fair election, the Commission has suspended Tarn Taran SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal. This action is aimed at preventing any irregularities and potential bias before the election.

According to sources, the Election Commission has made this decision from the perspective of local governance and security. The Commission believes that ensuring impartial police administration during the by-election is essential so that voters can cast their votes without fear. The Commission has instructed officials to ensure equal treatment for all political parties and candidates during the by-election.

Following the suspension of SSP Ravjot Kaur Grewal, an additional deputy commissioner of police has been appointed as the regional in-charge. The commission stated that the suspended officer's actions are being investigated and she has been removed from her position pending the completion of the investigation.

It should be noted that 15 days ago, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) filed a complaint with the state's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sibin C, against SSP Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal. In the complaint, Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal was accused of acting as a puppet of the Aam Aadmi Party and filing false cases against Akali Dal workers.

Experts say this move by the Election Commission will play a crucial role in ensuring fairness and administrative accountability in the electoral process. Local leaders and voters have also welcomed the move, calling it a step that will ensure a peaceful election environment.
