Tragic Road Accident: Two Killed, Three Injured as Iron Rods Pierce Car Occupants

Jalandhar/Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific road accident occurred on the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway on Wednesday, leaving two young men dead and three others seriously injured. The crash took place between Kartarpur and Dayalpur, when a car rammed into a truck loaded with iron rods.

According to reports, five youths from Amritsar were traveling in a Baleno car to attend a religious event at Valmiki Chowk Ashram in Shakti Nagar, Jalandhar. Eyewitnesses said that dense fog in the area had drastically reduced visibility. The truck reportedly braked suddenly, and the speeding car crashed into it from behind.

The collision was so severe that the iron rods pierced through the car, fatally injuring the two front-seat passengers, Anik Kumar (22) and Nikhil Sharma (21), who died on the spot.

Three others injured and hospitalized

The rear-seat passengers — Shubham, Amreek Singh (alias Kohli), and Rudra — sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Rudra reportedly called his family to inform them about the accident before being taken for treatment. The condition of two of the injured remains critical, doctors said.

Police arrived at the scene soon after the accident and conducted an inspection. The truck driver fled the spot, and an investigation is underway.
