Two terrorists arrested near India-Pakistan border in Amritsar; 2.5 kg IED recovered

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): The Amritsar Rural Police have arrested two brothers near the India–Pakistan border and recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing about 2.5 kg. The action came after intelligence inputs suggested that following the Delhi blast, Pakistan’s ISI was again attempting to send explosives into Indian territory.
Checkpoints were strengthened across Ramdas, Ajnala, and Gharinda. During this operation, the two accused Yuvraj and Aakashdeep set out on a motorcycle to retrieve the IED but were caught in dense fog. During the search, police found the explosive device inside their bag.
According to the information received, the IED had been hidden near the border and both accused went to pick it up. When police signaled them to stop, they tried to escape, but officers chased and arrested them. The police are interrogating the duo to identify other members of the module. DIG Sandeep Goyal is expected to share detailed information in a press conference soon.
