Jalandhar(The Uttam Hindu): A press conference for the Northern Region was organized by Vidya Bharati Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Sansthan on Friday at Vidya Dham, Jalandhar, regarding the effective implementation of the National Education Policy-2020. Vidya Bharati's All India General Secretary Shri Deshraj Sharma, Northern Region Co-Organization Secretary Shri Balkishan, General Secretary Shri Dilaram Chauhan, and Vidya Bharati Punjab General Secretary Shri Sandeep Dhudia were specially present at the event.
During the press conference, detailed information about the formation of educational councils in the Northern Region and their future action plan was presented to the society through the media. All India General Secretary Shri Deshraj Sharma stated that Vidya Bharati is operating approximately 24,000 educational institutions across the country, both formally and informally. Educational councils are being formed at the All India level with the objective of effectively bringing the concepts of the National Education Policy-2020 to the classroom.
He informed that in this regard, a regional meeting of the Northern Region—Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi—was held in Jalandhar from January 17 to 19, in which approximately 80 educationists and subject experts participated.
It was also clarified at the press conference that a strong structure is being developed at the school, cluster, district, state, and regional levels to practically implement the key dimensions of the National Education Policy—critical thinking, joyful learning, lifelong learning, and skill-based education. This process will integrate the experiences of principals, teachers, NCERT, DIET, and retired educationists.
On this occasion, Vidya Bharati emphasized that by connecting India's ancient and cultural educational traditions—the Gurukul system, family values, and spiritual values—with the needs of modern education, the aim is to create citizens who are not merely job seekers, but job creators, patriots, and responsible members of society. At the conclusion of the press conference, a resolution was expressed to ensure the 100% implementation of the National Education Policy-2020 with broad societal participation, so that education can truly become a powerful instrument of nation-building.
