Viral Audio Case: Patiala SSP Sent on Leave, Hearing in High Court Today; Election Commission to Submit Report

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A hearing is scheduled today in the Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the alleged viral audio clip. Ahead of the proceedings, Patiala SSP Varun Sharma has been sent on leave. In his place, Sangrur SSP Sartaj Singh has been given additional charge. The controversy began when an audio clip of Patiala police officers surfaced online before the District Council and Block Committee elections scheduled for December 14. Today’s High Court hearing will focus on the same issue.

During the hearing, the Election Commission is expected to submit its report on the alleged audio conversation involving police officials. Action against the Patiala SSP has already been taken ahead of the court proceedings. The opposition parties—Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress, and BJP—had filed petitions in the High Court demanding action in the viral audio matter.
