Punjab government’s 'war against drugs' has fizzled out: Avinash Rai Khanna
States that youth in Punjab are falling victim to drugs; alleges leniency by the Punjab government towards drug traffickers

Hoshiarpur(The Uttam Hindu) : Former MP Avinash Rai Khanna stated that the Punjab government—led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party—has seen its "war against drugs" completely fizzle out. Khanna remarked that, far from eradicating drugs entirely, the AAP government in Punjab has proven incapable even of merely controlling the drug menace. Citing reports published in newspapers, Khanna highlighted two recent incidents: the death of five children from a single family in Punjab due to drug abuse, and the physical assault of a social activist in Abohar who had raised his voice against drugs.
In both instances, specific information regarding the drug traffickers involved was provided to the police; however, neither the government nor the police took any action against them. Offering counsel to the Punjab government, Khanna urged them to move beyond mere slogans and claims to engage in concrete, real-world action, ensuring that no family in Punjab loses its "guiding light"—its children—to drugs. Finally, Khanna appealed to the people of Punjab to unite and raise their voices against drugs, in the hope of awakening the Bhagwant Mann government from its deep slumber.
