Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): A senior official of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, died by suicide in Amritsar. According to reports, he consumed poison and recorded a video before taking the step, which later surfaced on social media.
Allegations in video spark controversy
The incident gained political attention after senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia shared details on social media, claiming that Randhawa named Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in the video.
Minister resigns, probe ordered
Following the controversy, Laljit Singh Bhullar resigned from his post. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered an inquiry into the matter and directed Chief Secretary KAP Sinha to conduct a thorough investigation.
Sources said the Chief Minister has made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated and strict action will be taken based on the findings.
Official was serving in multiple districts
Gagandeep Singh Randhawa had been serving as District Manager in Amritsar and Tarn Taran. After the incident, he was rushed to a private hospital, where he died during treatment.
Authorities have initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.
