Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is about to change once again. The Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and strong winds in many areas starting Saturday for the next four days. The department has issued a yellow alert for this purpose. It is estimated that winds may blow at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour during this period.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry in most areas on Friday, although some areas may remain cloudy. During the past 24 hours, light rain was recorded in areas adjacent to the hilly regions. Pathankot and Amritsar, in particular, experienced drizzle in the morning. Temperatures have not changed significantly yet, remaining around 3.8 degrees Celsius above normal. The highest maximum temperature was recorded at 33.5 degrees Celsius in Sri Anandpur Sahib.

According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures above 31 degrees Celsius have been recorded in seven districts of the state. Rupnagar recorded 33.5 degrees Celsius, Mohali 32.7 degrees Celsius, Patiala and Faridkot 32.2 degrees Celsius, Hoshiarpur and SBS Nagar 31.5 degrees Celsius, and Ludhiana 30.8 degrees Celsius. Chandigarh recorded a maximum temperature of 33.6 degrees Celsius. The department says that the weather will change from Saturday, and light to moderate rain and strong winds are likely to occur at many places. This is likely to bring down the temperature and make the weather pleasant.

Light rain is expected in the eastern districts of the state until March 20. Maximum daytime temperatures are expected to range from 26-28 degrees Celsius in the northern and eastern regions, 28-30 degrees Celsius in the central regions, and 30-32 degrees Celsius in the southern regions. Daytime temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal throughout the state this week.
