Heavy rain in Mumbai triggers flight delays, SpiceJet and IndiGo warn passengers

Mumbai/Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): Due to heavy rains in Mumbai and Kolkata, two major metropolises of the country, air travelers may face problems. In view of the bad weather conditions, private airlines SpiceJet and Indigo have issued special travel advisories for their passengers. The airlines have appealed to the passengers to check the latest status of their flights before leaving home for the airport, so that they do not face any inconvenience.
SpiceJet alerts Mumbai passengers
SpiceJet shared a post on the social media platform X, stating that heavy rains at Mumbai airport could significantly impact flight arrivals and departures. There's a strong possibility of flights being delayed or rescheduled due to the deteriorating weather conditions. The airline has advised passengers to remain vigilant and ensure they receive complete flight status information before traveling. Meanwhile, another significant news has emerged regarding SpiceJet, which is struggling financially. Aircraft supplier companies have approached the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to cancel the registration of four of SpiceJet's Boeing 737-8 Max aircraft. However, the airline stated that these aircraft have been out of operation for a long time and deregistering them will reduce the company's lease rental burden.
Indigo also issued a warning in Kolkata
Apart from SpiceJet, Indigo has also warned its passengers about the torrential rains in Kolkata. In the advisory issued by Indigo, it has been clarified that due to continuous rain, flight services may be disrupted and there is a strong possibility of delay in flights. The company has said that its teams are closely monitoring the situation so that travel can be resumed as soon as the weather improves. Indigo has specifically instructed the passengers to take extra time while leaving for the airport keeping in mind the possible traffic jams on the roads and do not forget to check the status of your flight before leaving home.
