Arshdeep Singh creates history, becomes first Indian to achieve rare T20 feat

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Fast bowler Arshdeep Singh took a wicket against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025 on Friday becoming the first Indian to take a century of wickets in T20 cricket. India will play the Super 4 matches in the Asia Cup 2025 with a hat-trick of wins. Team India won by 21 runs against Oman in the Group A match played in Abu Dhabi on Friday.
Arshdeep Singh has taken 100 wickets in 64 T20 matches since 2022 at an average of 18.49. During this period, he bowled 222.2 overs and conceded a total of 1,849 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya are jointly placed second in this list. Chahal has played 80 matches in his T20 career, while Pandya has played 117 T20 matches so far. Jasprit Bumrah (92 wickets) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (90 wickets) are placed fourth and fifth respectively in this list.
Rashid Khan of Afghanistan holds the record for most wickets in T20 cricket globally having taken 173 dismissals in 103 T20 matches. In the match between India and Oman played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, India after winning the toss and opting to bat first, scored 188 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
Sanju Samson top-scored for India with 56 runs, while Abhishek Sharma added 38. For the opposition, Shah Faisal, Jiten Ramanandi and Aamir Kaleem took two wickets each.
In response, Oman managed 167 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. For Oman, Aamir Kaleem scored 64 runs off 46 balls, while Hammad Mirza made 51 runs off 33 balls. For India Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
