Aryna Sabalenka clinches US Open women’s singles title, Anisimova falls short

New York (The Uttam Hindu): Belarus ' world number-1 tennis player Aryna Sabalenka has won the women's singles title of US Open 2025. In the final match played at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Saturday, September 6, Sabalenka defeated America's Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6 (3). The match lasted for 1 hour 34 minutes.
Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka won the US Open women's singles title, Amanda Anisimova's dream shattered : Aryna Sabalenka has become the US Open champion for the second consecutive time. Earlier, she had also won this title in 2024. This is the first time since 2014 that a female player has defended the US Open singles title. This is Sabalenka's fourth Grand Slam title overall.
27-year-old Sabalenka has previously won the Australian Open twice (2023 and 2024). On the other hand, 24-year-old Amanda Anisimova reached the second consecutive Grand Slam final of her career, but once again failed to win the title. In the US Open 2025 semi-final matches, Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula of the United States 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Anisimova defeated Naomi Osaka of Japan 6-7 (4), 7-6 (3), 6-3 to make it to the final.
Now all eyes are on the men's singles final, which will be played today. In this, world number-1 Jannik Sinner of Italy will face world number-2 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain. Sinner defeated Canada's Felix Auger Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the semi-finals, while Alcaraz defeated Serbia's Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-2 to make it to the final.
