India Announces T20 Asia Cup Squad for 2025: Suryakumar Yadav to Lead, VC also Announced

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member team for the T20 Asia Cup starting on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar has given a chance to young faces keeping in mind the future T20 World Cup 2026. The responsibility of captaining the team has been given to explosive batsman Suryakumar Yadav, while Shubman Gill will play the role of vice-captain.

This continental tournament will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 9 to 28 September. India has been placed in Group 'A', where it is joined by arch-rivals Pakistan, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. The Indian team will start its campaign against hosts UAE in Dubai on 10 September. The match which cricket lovers are eagerly waiting for will be played between India and Pakistan on 14 September on the ground of Dubai. Team India will play its last league match against Oman in Abu Dhabi on 19 September.

Experienced all-rounder Hardik Pandya and fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah have returned to the team. Sanju Samson has also got a place in the team along with Jitesh Sharma as wicketkeeper. At the same time, the selectors have also expressed confidence in young players like Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey, Harshit Rana and Rinku Singh who performed brilliantly in the IPL.
