Asia cup trophy controversy ends: PCB surrenders to BCCI's demands

Dubai (The Uttam Hindu): Pakistan and the PCB, who had been displaying arrogance for several days after the crushing defeat on the field, have finally surrendered to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Pakistan's arrogance has vanished in the face of BCCI's insistence and threat of complaining to the ICC. Just a short while ago, news broke that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has taken the controversial Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan and handed it over to the UAE Cricket Board, from where it will soon be sent to India.
This is a big strategic victory for Team India and BCCI, which has proved that India's name cannot be ignored in the world of cricket.
The entire matter was resolved after an emergency ACC meeting in Dubai on Tuesday. At this meeting, BCCI representatives Rajiv Shukla and Ashish Shelar vehemently reprimanded PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. They made it clear that India had won the title on the field and that it alone had the right to the trophy. The BCCI also threatened to file a complaint with the ICC regarding the PCB's shameful actions if the trophy was not immediately handed over to India. The ICC's threat brought the PCB to its senses.
The BCCI had only one condition: the Indian team players would not accept the trophy from PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi. Ultimately, that's exactly what happened. The ACC found a middle ground and handed the trophy to the UAE board. Now, the trophy will return to India via a third country, leaving India with a lost cause and Pakistan with a humiliating loss.
It should be noted that after winning the final on September 28th, Team India refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi, after which Naqvi brazenly left the stadium with the trophy and medals. This incident caused a huge uproar in the cricket world.
