Dhaka (The Uttam Hindu): The Bangladesh cricket team has been officially eliminated from the T20 World Cup, throwing the country's cricket administration into turmoil. A senior Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official resigned from his post just hours after the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s decision. BCB Director and Game Development Committee Chairman Ishtiaque Sadiq decided to step down on January 24. The decision came after the ICC officially confirmed Scotland's inclusion in the T20 World Cup in place of Bangladesh.

Why was Bangladesh excluded from the T20 World Cup?

The ICC announced its decision on January 24th to exclude Bangladesh from the tournament and include Scotland. According to information, due to the ongoing tension between India and Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Cricket Board was not ready to play its matches of the upcoming T20 World Cup in India. Despite repeated persuasion by the ICC, Bangladesh remained adamant on its stand, after which the ICC took strict action and expelled it from the tournament. However, Ishtiaq Sadiq has denied linking his resignation to this controversy and said that it was a decision taken due to personal reasons.

What did Ishtiaq Sadiq say about his resignation?

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Ishtiaq Sadiq said, "It is true that I am resigning. I believe that due to family and personal commitments, I am unable to devote the necessary time to such an important position as game development. I am unable to contribute to this role to the extent expected of me. For this reason, I am personally regretful and have decided to step down."

Sadiq also clarified that his resignation was unrelated to any internal dispute within the BCB or any issues related to the ICC. He stated that claims that he was resigning due to a misunderstanding, strained relations within the board, or any complaints were false. This resignation

comes at a time when Bangladesh cricket is already facing sharp criticism following the T20 World Cup controversy and questions are being raised about the board's decisions.
