BCCI earns ₹14,627 crore in 5 years, maintains global dominance in cricket

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Even though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) does not have any title sponsor for Team India at this time, the board is not much worried about this. BCCI has always been strong in terms of money and its financial position is so good that it can run the team for years even without any sponsor.
Earned 14,627 crores in 5 years, BCCI's dominance prevails among cricket boards across the world : According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI has earned a total of Rs 14,627 crore in the last five years. In the financial year 2023-24 alone, the board has registered an income of Rs 4,193 crore. Apart from this, the BCCI also has a cash balance of Rs 20,686 crore.
This information came to light when the board paid the dues of its state associations. This showed that the BCCI's general fund was Rs 3,906 crore in 2019, which has now increased to Rs 7,988 crore. That is, it has almost doubled.
BCCI is one of the richest cricket boards in the world and is responsible for running the cricket structure in India smoothly. Recently, the board has started many youth tournaments, which aim to provide a platform to young players.
According to the accounts statement presented in the 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the secretary said that the cash and bank balance of BCCI has increased from Rs 6,059 crore to Rs 20,686 crore. This figure is before paying the dues of the state associations. That is, the board has registered an increase of Rs 14,627 crore in its account from 2019 till now.
The board also said that it will pay an income tax of Rs 3,150 crore for 2023-24. The BCCI earns its income mainly from revenue from media rights, sponsorship, IPL and ICC.
