Bumrah’s lethal spell crushes West Indies, completes 50 WTC wickets at home

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Indian bowlers continued to dominate the first Test match between India and the West Indies. Thanks to the superb bowling of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav, India bundled out the West Indies for just 162 runs in the first innings. Jasprit Bumrah created history by setting a major record.
Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets in the first innings against the West Indies, completing 50 wickets on Indian soil in the World Test Championship (WTC). He became the first Indian fast bowler to take 50 wickets at home in WTC history. Before him, Ravichandran Ashwin (149 wickets) and Ravindra Jadeja (94 wickets) have achieved this feat, but both are spinners. Bumrah achieved this milestone in his 13th home Test match.
Bumrah was in full form in the match, dismissing West Indies openers John Campbell, Justin Greaves, and Johan Lynn. His lethal yorkers and fast deliveries were unanswered by the West Indies batsmen. His brilliant bowling strengthened India's grip on the match.
Jasprit Bumrah made his Test debut for India in 2018. Since then, he has remained India's leading fast bowler. He has taken 222 wickets in 49 Test matches, including 15 five-wicket hauls.
