New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Sanju Samson scored 321 runs in five innings at an average of 80.25 in the 2026 T20 World Cup. For this outstanding performance, Samson was named Player of the Tournament. With this, Samson became the third Indian to win this award in the T20 World Cup. Let's learn about all the Indian players who have won this award.

Virat Kohli: The legendary batsman won the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cups in 2014 and 2016. He is the only Indian to have won the award twice.

Kohli was the leading run-scorer in the 2014 T20 World Cup, amassing 319 runs at an average of 106.33. Kohli smashed 10 sixes and 24 fours during this period. He then won the award again in 2016.

Virat Kohli played a total of five matches in the 2016 T20 World Cup, scoring 273 runs at an average of 136.50. He finished second on the list of leading run-scorers in that edition.

Jasprit Bumrah: India won the T20 World Cup 2024 thanks to Jasprit Bumrah's sharp bowling. In that edition, Bumrah played eight matches and bowled a total of 29.4 overs, taking 15 wickets for 124 runs. Although Arshdeep Singh finished one spot ahead of Bumrah in the list of leading wicket-takers with 17 wickets, Bumrah earned the Player of the Series award thanks to his impressive performance in the death overs.

Sanju Samson: The right-hander had a disappointing performance during the T20 series against New Zealand earlier this year. Samson managed only 22 and 24 runs in his first two innings of the 2026 T20 World Cup. Some analysts began questioning his place in the playing XI, but Samson has since proven himself.

Sanju Samson played an unbeaten inning of 97 runs in the decisive Super 8 match against West Indies, which secured India a place in the semi-finals. In the knockout match, Samson played a key role in India's victory by scoring 89 runs against England. Samson was in form once again in the final match against New Zealand, where he became the hero of the victory by scoring 89 runs. Sanju played 5 matches in this entire edition, in which he scored 321 runs with a batting average of 80.25. He finished third in the list of highest run scorers.
