Blow to New Zealand: Finn Allen Ruled Out of T20 Tri-Series

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): New Zealand opener Finn Allen has been ruled out of the T20 tri-series starting in Zimbabwe from July 14. Finn Allen suffered a leg injury while playing for San Francisco Unicorns in Major League Cricket-2025 (MLC).
"Allen's recovery time will be determined after he returns to New Zealand and receives further advice from specialists. His replacement will be announced shortly," New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said on Wednesday.
26-year-old Finn Allen has scored 333 runs in nine matches for Unicorns. He is at the fifth position in terms of scoring the most runs this season. He played an innings of 151 runs against Washington Freedom this season.
The New Zealand team will reach Harare on Thursday. Here they have to play their first match of this tri-series against South Africa on 16 July. Before this, Proteas and host Zimbabwe will play the first match of the tri-series on 14 July.
All matches of the triangular series will be held at Harare Sports Club. The final of the series will be played on 26 July between the top-2 ranked teams.
New Zealand's 15-member team will be led by left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner. This team also includes young batsman Bevon Jacobs, who has a chance to make his debut in international cricket.
This is New Zealand's first series under the leadership of newly appointed head coach Rob Walter. Rob Walter has also been the captain of South Africa's limited overs team. Along with him, the coaching staff also includes batting coach Luke Ronchi, bowling coach Jacob Oram and James Foster, who has joined the team as the fourth coach.
