Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Mumbai Indians' captain Hardik Pandya has had to face a double blow in the thrilling match played against Kolkata Knight Riders. On one hand, the team had to face another crushing defeat under his captaincy, on the other hand, due to a big and childish mistake made during the match, he has also been punished by the BCCI. Due to losing his temper and misbehavior on the field, the BCCI has taken strict action against the Mumbai Indians' captain. As a punishment, a heavy fine has been imposed on Hardik Pandya, under which a huge 10 percent deduction has been made from his match fee.

Angry on the field, he made a big mistake, his action was caught on camera

The reason behind this strict action against Hardik Pandya is his irritable behavior. The entire incident occurred during the 10th over of the Kolkata Knight Riders' innings. After bowling the fourth ball of the over, Hardik was returning to his run-up when, in anger and frustration, he deliberately knocked down the bails, expressing his displeasure. This on-field action was captured on camera, and the BCCI immediately took strict action against it, as it was against the spirit of the game and the rules of cricket.

He admitted his mistake to the match referee and was found guilty of violating the rules

Hardik Pandya has been found guilty under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct for his disappointing on-field behavior. According to official information, the Mumbai Indians captain admitted his mistake to match referee Rajeev Seth without any argument. Following the captain's admission of guilt, no further formal hearing or action was deemed necessary, and he was fined as per the rules.

Neither did the magic work with the bat nor did the captaincy show any strength

Hardik Pandya's individual performance in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders was also extremely disappointing. While he was his team's second-highest scorer, his innings was far too slow for the T20 format. He faced 27 balls and scored just 26 runs, hitting just one six and two fours. He was also completely ineffective with the ball, conceding 13 runs in two overs and failing to achieve any success. Hardik's overall performance in the nine matches played so far in IPL 2026 has been quite mediocre. He has scored just 172 runs with the bat and taken just four wickets with the ball. Under his captaincy, Mumbai Indians have only won two out of nine matches.
