Happy Birthday Yuvi: BCCI Wishes Indian Cricket’s Powerhouse Yuvraj Singh on His Birthday

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended birthday greetings to former Team India left-hand batting star Yuvraj Singh, who turns 44 on December 12, 2025. The BCCI shared a post featuring Yuvraj in the iconic blue jersey from the 2011 World Cup, writing: “402 international matches, 11,778 runs, 148 wickets and two World Cup titles – Happy Birthday, Yuvi!”
Yuvraj Singh, apart from being a stylish left-hand middle-order batsman, was also a reliable left-arm orthodox spinner. His resilience, talent, passion and commitment have made him a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
On his birthday, IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) also shared a tribute, describing him as a true champion in every sense. Their post highlighted that Yuvraj not only entertained fans with his remarkable cricketing skills but also fought like a warrior on the field and was one of the finest match-winners of his time. In the IPL, Yuvraj represented RCB along with Kings XI Punjab, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils), and Mumbai Indians.
Yuvraj shocked the world in the 2007 T20 World Cup after smashing six consecutive sixes in an over against Stuart Broad. Four years later, during the 2011 ODI World Cup, he delivered a memorable performance while battling cancer, earning the prestigious ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. His role in helping India lift the trophy remains unforgettable. His comeback to cricket after defeating a life-threatening illness and contributing again at the international level is nothing short of a cinematic story.
Fans across social media platforms are celebrating with hashtags like “Yuvi,” “Yuvraj,” and “Happy Birthday Yuvi.”
In ODIs, Yuvraj scored 8701 runs from 304 matches and picked up 111 wickets. He also represented India in 58 T20Is. However, his dream of playing more Test cricket remained unfulfilled. In 40 Test matches, he scored around 1900 runs at an average of nearly 34.
