Rajgir (The Uttam Hindu)- Indian hockey team has started Hockey Asia Cup with a resounding victory over China. India defeated China 4-3 in the first league match of the group. Indian team registered a splendid victory over China in a thrilling match played at Rajgir Hockey Stadium located in Rajgir of Nalanda district of Bihar. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored three goals while Jugraj Singh scored one goal.


This match was very exciting and full of struggle. China gave a tough fight to India. The opening goal of the match was scored by China. After this, India scored three consecutive goals to take a strong lead of 3-1. China made a strong comeback and equalized the score to 3-3. In the last quarter (47th minute), captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal on a penalty corner, increasing India's lead to 4-3, which ultimately proved to be decisive. In the last moments of the match, China tried hard to score a goal but did not succeed. The final score was 4-3. Before this match, two matches of Group B were played in the day. In the first match, Malaysia defeated Bangladesh 4-1. Bangladesh scored the first goal in the 16th minute. Malaysia's Asharan Hamsani scored a brilliant goal in the 25th minute to equalize the score. In the second half, Malaysia came out with a more aggressive attitude. Akhimullah Anwar (36th minute) scored the second goal, giving the team the lead. Muhajir Abdul Rauf (48th minute) scored the third goal and Syed Cholan (54th minute, penalty corner) scored the fourth goal to increase the team's lead to 4-1. With Cholan's goal, Malaysia's victory was confirmed.


In the second match, South Korea defeated Chinese Taipei 7-0. Dan Son scored a hat-trick (17th minute, 29th minute, 58th minute) for South Korea. Jihun Yang scored two goals with the help of penalty corner (27th minute, 50th minute). Seyong Oh (53rd minute) and Yunho Kong (54th minute) scored 1-1 goals.
