Adelaide (The Uttam Hindu) : The second match of the ODI series between India and Australia was played in Adelaide on Thursday. Australia achieved India's target of 265 runs in 46.2 overs for the loss of 8 wickets. With this victory, Australia took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Chasing a target of 265, Australia's Matt Short played a superb innings of 74 runs off 78 balls, hitting two sixes and four fours. Cooper Connolly remained unbeaten on 61 off 53 balls. Matt Renshaw made 30 and Mitchell Owen made 36. The Indian bowlers dismissed both Australian openers, Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, at the score of 54. At this stage, the Indian team had a chance to take a few more wickets and gain control of the match, but the Indian bowlers failed. The Australian batsmen achieved the target by making small partnerships.

For India, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar took 2 wickets each. Axar Patel and Siraj took 1 wicket each. Earlier, Australia won the toss and elected to bowl. India scored 264 runs for the loss of 9 wickets, thanks to half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Rohit Sharma scored 73 runs off 97 balls, including 2 sixes and 7 fours. Shreyas Iyer scored 61 runs off 77 balls, including 7 fours. Rohit and Shreyas shared a crucial 118-run partnership for the third wicket. Axar Patel scored 44, and Harshit Rana scored an unbeaten 18. For Australia, Adam Zampa took 4 wickets, Xavier Bartlett took 2 wickets, and Mitchell Starc took 2 wickets.
