New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Gede Priyandana, a 28-year-old right-arm fast bowler from Indonesia, performed a feat that captured the cricket world's attention. He created history by taking five wickets in a single over, including a hat-trick.

This historic moment occurred during the first match of the eight-match T20 series between Indonesia and Cambodia (December 23, Bali). Cambodia won the toss and elected to bowl first, after which Indonesia scored 167 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs. Dharma Kesma scored a brilliant 110 runs in this innings, including eight fours and six sixes.

Chasing the target of 168 runs, Cambodia's innings was restricted to 107

Chasing the target, Cambodia was at 106/5 after 15 overs and the match had reached a thrilling turn. Then the captain handed the ball to Priyandana and this is where the course of the match changed. Priyandana completed a hat-trick by taking wickets in the first three balls of his over, then after a dot ball, he sent two more batsmen to the pavilion. Only one wide was bowled in this over and the entire Cambodian team was all out for 107 runs. As a result, Indonesia won the match by 60 runs.

It has happened before in T20 cricket, but for the first time in T20I cricket, the feat of taking 5 wickets in an over in T20 cricket (domestic level) has happened twice before. Bangladesh's Al-Amin Hossain (Victory Day T20 Cup 2013-14) and India's Abhimanyu Mithun (Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20) have done it. However, this is the first time in T20I cricket that a bowler has taken 5 wickets in a single over.
