ICC rankings: Virat Kohli dishes Rohit Sharma to regain ODI throne after 4 years

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India's star batsman Virat Kohli has overtaken compatriot Rohit Sharma to become the number one batsman in the men's ODI rankings. The 37-year-old Kohli has reached the top spot for the first time since July 2021.
Virat Kohli scored 93 runs in the first ODI against New Zealand in Vadodara, helping Team India win the match by four wickets. Kohli has once again reached the top spot, while Rohit Sharma has dropped two places to third.
After a brilliant innings in the first ODI against New Zealand, Kohli has moved to second place in the list of highest run-scorers in international cricket. Kohli has been in excellent form since the tour of Australia, scoring 74*, 135, 102, 65* and 93 in his last five matches. Kohli first reached the top ranking in October 2013.
New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has moved up one spot to second in the ODI rankings after scoring a brilliant 84 off 71 balls in the first ODI. Mitchell has scored three half-centuries and a century against the West Indies in his last five ODIs. Meanwhile, Mitchell's teammate Devon Conway has moved up three spots to 29th.
In the ODI bowlers' list, Mohammed Siraj's impressive performance helped him move up five places to 15th. Fast bowler Kyle Jamieson also benefited from this ranking. His four wickets against India lifted him 27 places to 69th, joining fellow Indian bowler Arshdeep Singh.
Several Australian players have improved their positions in the Test rankings following the conclusion of the Ashes series. Travis Head has climbed seven places to third.
Other Test players include Jacob Bethell, who climbed 25 places to join Tom Blundell in 52nd place after his impressive maiden Test century in the final Ashes Test. Michael Neser has climbed seven places to 47th.
Beau Webster has improved his rankings following a superb all-round performance in the Ashes final. He has risen six places to 58th in the batting rankings, while he has climbed 29 places to 80th in the bowling rankings.
Wanindu Hasaranga's performance in drawing the series against Pakistan helped him move up three places to second in the T20 bowler rankings.
Pakistani fast bowler Salman Mirza has climbed 16 places to 19th. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan is in fifth place, while Salman Agha has climbed 13 places to 41st.
