IPL 2026 mini auction: BCCI announces date and venue

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The mini auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 will be held on December 16 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. All 10 franchises have released their lists of retained and released players, following which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also unveiled the date and venue of the mini auction. The BCCI stated in a press release that all 10 teams have retained a total of 173 players, including 49 foreign players and some traded players.
Ten teams have 77 remaining slots for the IPL 2026 mini auction. The combined purse of all franchises is ₹237.55 crore. Each team can retain a maximum of 25 players. Punjab Kings have retained the most players with 21. Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians have retained 20 players each.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will have the highest purse of ₹64.3 crore in this auction. The team can add up to 13 players in the auction. KKR released high-priced players like Andre Russell (₹12 crore) and Venkatesh Iyer (₹23.75 crore) ahead of the mini-auction. The team has six slots remaining to add foreign players.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has ₹43.4 crore remaining to fill the maximum of nine slots. Sunrisers Hyderabad has ₹25.5 crore remaining in their purse. The team has retained 15 players, including six foreigners. Now, the franchise can add up to 10 players in the mini auction.
Mumbai Indians will enter this mini-auction with the lowest amount of money. The franchise has retained almost all of its notable players. Mumbai Indians have only ₹2.75 crore remaining in their purse. The team can add a maximum of five players.
