Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): The sixth match of IPL 2026 will be played on Thursday at Eden Gardens between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Both teams are coming into this match after defeats—KKR lost to Mumbai Indians, while SRH were beaten by Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

With both sides aiming for their first win of the season, a competitive clash is expected. However, KKR appear stronger on their home ground, while SRH are struggling with multiple issues.

The biggest concern for SRH is the absence of their regular captain Pat Cummins, who is recovering from a back injury and is currently unavailable. His absence has weakened both leadership and the bowling attack, increasing pressure on the batting unit.

SRH’s batting lineup is expected to deliver big totals on a batting-friendly pitch, potentially exceeding 230 runs. However, the top order has been out of form. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma have struggled recently, including underwhelming performances in recent tournaments. Since SRH relies heavily on them, another failure could put the team in serious trouble.

Middle-order batter Heinrich Klaasen, known for his explosive batting, has also not been in top form lately, adding to SRH’s concerns.

One positive for SRH is stand-in captain Ishan Kishan, who is in excellent form. He scored 80 runs off 38 balls against RCB and will again be key against KKR. However, he will need strong support from the rest of the batting lineup.

Players like Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Eshan Malinga, David Payne, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will also need to step up.

To defeat KKR at their home venue, SRH must deliver strong performances in batting, bowling, and fielding.

Historically, both teams have faced each other 30 times. KKR have won 19 matches, SRH have won 10, while one match ended in a tie.
