"Its time to move on" : Andre Russell As he Plays His Last International Match

Kingston (The Uttam Hindu): West Indies power hitter Andre Russell bid farewell to international cricket with a blazing innings in the second T20 match against Australia on Wednesday. However, his team had to face a crushing defeat by eight wickets at Sabina Park.
Andre Russell had already announced his retirement before the T20 series. The first two matches of the five-match series against Australia were the last matches of his international career. Andre Russell wanted to play a farewell match in his hometown.
Andre Russell came out to bat in the second T20 match against Australia when the team had lost five wickets for a score of 98. He hit four sixes and two fours in his 15-ball innings.
37-year-old Andre Russell thanked the fans for their support and admitted that now it is time to move on.
Andre Russell, who was a member of the T20 World Cup winning team in 2012 and 2016, said, "I want to thank the people of Sabina Park and the West Indies Cricket Board for this. It was a great pleasure to play in front of the home crowd. The result was not in our favor, but I am happy to play so many matches and wish the team all the best for the future. Thank you all for your support."
He said, “I remember we won two World Cups, but it seems it was time to move on. We have many good players in our team. Players like Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford, Alzari Joseph and Jason Holder are performing well. It is wonderful to end my career at Sabina Park. The result was not in our favor, but this is the game of cricket. You have supported us a lot and keep doing so in the future.”
When this West Indies all-rounder came on the field for the last time in the maroon jersey, he was given a 'Guard of Honour'.
Andre Russell scored 1,122 runs in 86 T20 matches. He has 61 wickets to his name in this format.
Andre Russell scored 1,034 runs and took 70 wickets in 56 ODIs. Russell played only one Test match in his career.
