New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The latest ICC rankings have brought contrasting developments for Indian cricketers Ravindra Jadeja and Abhishek Sharma. Jadeja has lost his position as the world’s No. 1 Test all-rounder to South Africa’s Marco Jansen, ending his 1,683-day reign. Meanwhile, Abhishek has reclaimed the top spot in the T20 International batting rankings after overtaking Ishan Kishan.

Jadeja first reached the top of the Test all-rounder rankings on March 20, 2022, surpassing West Indies star Jason Holder. He maintained his position for more than four years before Jansen moved ahead in the latest rankings. Jadeja now sits second with 422 rating points. Jansen’s rise follows an impressive performance against Australia in the World Test Championship, where he scored 85 runs in the first innings and claimed five wickets in the match played in Gqeberha. He also climbed 13 places to 56th in the Test batting rankings and advanced in the bowling rankings, overtaking Mitchell Starc to claim the top position.

Abhishek Sharma has also made headlines by returning to the No. 1 position in the ICC T20I batting rankings. His rise follows an explosive performance against New Zealand, in which he reportedly scored 113 runs off just 38 balls, reaching his century in 35 deliveries. Abhishek had previously climbed to the top of the rankings in July 2025 after surpassing Australia’s Travis Head, before losing the position to Ishan Kishan. His latest return to the summit marks another milestone in his T20 career, even as Jadeja’s lengthy dominance in Test all-rounder rankings comes to an end.
