Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): In Indian Premier League 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders are struggling with poor form and are still searching for their first win of the season. Playing at their home ground against Lucknow Super Giants, the challenge looks tough, especially considering their unfavorable record against LSG.
KKR have played three matches so far this season. They lost their first two games against Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad, while their third match against Punjab Kings was abandoned due to rain, earning them just one point. Even in that match, KKR were not in a strong position.
Currently placed ninth in the points table, KKR must secure a win against LSG at Eden Gardens on Thursday to improve their standings. However, history is not in their favor. Out of the six head-to-head matches played between the two sides, LSG have won four, while KKR have managed only two victories. In IPL 2025, LSG defeated KKR by 4 runs in their only encounter.
Looking at LSG’s performance in IPL 2026, they have one win and one loss from two matches, placing them seventh in the standings. They won their previous match against Sunrisers Hyderabad away from home, with a strong bowling performance led by Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav, who dismantled the opposition batting lineup. In batting, captain Rishabh Pant returned to form with an unbeaten 68-run knock, playing a key role in the victory.
KKR, led by Ajinkya Rahane, are dealing with team imbalance and injuries to key players. Even at home, securing a win against an in-form LSG side will not be easy. The team will need better strategy and a balanced combination to turn their campaign around.
