'Captain Cool' Now a Registered Trademark: MS Dhoni's Big Win

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Former Indian cricket captain M.S Dhoni has registered the trademark 'Captain Cool' which means that now no one can ue the cricket moniker if it successfully is approved. The trademark was registered under class 41 for sports training, coaching services and training facilities and was approved and advertised after facing some initial objections.
Dhoni's legal team argued that the term "Captain Cool" has become synonymous with his identity and brand, widely recognized by the public, media and fans. The trademark registry accepted this argument, acknowledging that the term is no longer just a nickname but a distinct commercial identity.
This registration strengthens Dhoni's brand value and provides legal protection against potential misuse. The case sets a notable precedent, demonstrating that a person can secure trademark protection for their identity and image even if a similar trademark exists.
Dhoni, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the field, has been associated with the "Captain Cool" moniker for years. Although he has retired from international cricket, he continues to captain the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
