New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian cricket team defeated Pakistan to win the Asia Cup final, claiming the title for a record ninth time. Following the Indian team's victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated them on social media, writing, "Operation Sindoor continues on the field. The result is the same: India wins. Congratulations to our cricketers. "

Controversy arose over not receiving the trophy.

Despite winning the final, the Indian team was not given the trophy till late night. Various speculations came up regarding the delay in the post-match ceremony. According to reports, Team India had made it clear that they would not accept the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President and Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia made a big allegation and said that Naqvi took away not only the trophy but also the individual medals of the players.

Saikia said, "India had decided not to accept the trophy from the ACC Chairman. But that does not mean they should take the trophy and medals with them. This is against the spirit of the game. We hope the trophy and medals will be returned to Team India soon. We will raise this issue at the ICC meeting in November." He also clarified that the BCCI will lodge a formal protest on this matter. India defeated Pakistan for the third time in the tournament and won all seven matches to win the Asia Cup 2025. But the trophy controversy after the match dampened the celebrations of Indian cricket fans.
