Guwahati (The Uttam Hindu): In an exciting IPL 2026 clash at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Rajasthan Royals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore despite a strong total from RCB. Batting first, RCB posted 201 for 8 but failed to defend the score, registering their seventh such defeat in IPL history after scoring 200 or more. With this loss, RCB equalled the unwanted record held by Punjab Kings, who have also lost seven matches after posting 200-plus totals.

Other teams on this list include Chennai Super Kings with six such defeats and Kolkata Knight Riders with five. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals recorded their fifth successful chase of a 200-plus target. Punjab Kings lead in this category with nine wins, followed by Mumbai Indians with six and Sunrisers Hyderabad with four while RCB have achieved it four times.

After winning the toss, Rajasthan opted to bowl first. RCB’s innings was led by captain Rajat Patidar who scored 63, while Virat Kohli added 32. Contributions also came from Venkatesh Iyer with 29 and Romario Shepherd with 22.

In reply, Rajasthan chased down 202 with ease reaching the target in 18 overs with four wickets in hand. Opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a blistering knock of 78 runs off just 26 balls, including seven sixes and eight fours, while wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 81 off 43 balls. Ravindra Jadeja also stayed not out on 24. Vaibhav Suryavanshi was named player of the match for his outstanding performance.
