Big blow for Team India as Rishabh Pant is ruled out, BCCI names replacement

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The ODI between India and New Zealand is scheduled to begin today, i.e., January 11. But before the start of this series, Team India has suffered a major setback. Star wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the entire series due to injury. BCCI confirmed this on Sunday. Along with informing about Rishabh Pant's exclusion from the series, BCCI has also announced his replacement. In place of Rishabh Pant, it is not Sanju Samson or Ishan Kishan but Dhruv Jurel, who made a splash in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, who has come in the team.
Giving information about Rishabh Pant's injury, BCCI wrote in its release, 'Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant suddenly felt pain in his lower right abdomen while batting in the nets during India's practice session at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on Saturday afternoon.
He was immediately taken for an MRI scan and the BCCI medical team discussed his clinical and radiological reports in detail with an expert. Pant has been diagnosed with a side strain and has therefore been ruled out of the ODI series.
