Big Blow to India, Rishabh Pant Out of England Series due to Injury, This Player to Take His Place

London/New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): India's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has suffered a significant setback in the ongoing England tour. During the first day of the fourth Test at Manchester, Pant was forced to retire hurt after sustaining a fracture in his right toe. The injury occurred when he attempted a reverse sweep against England's Chris Woakes, and the ball struck his toe, causing swelling and bleeding. Pant scored 37 runs off 48 deliveries before getting injured and was taken for scans, which confirmed the fracture.
The medical team has advised Pant to rest for at least six weeks, which would rule him out of the remainder of the series. BCCI sources indicate that Pant's chances of playing again in the series are low. India is already facing injury problems with Nitish Kumar Reddy (knee injury), Akash Deep (thigh injury), and Arshdeep Singh (thumb injury) ruled out of the fourth Test. Ishan Kishan has been added to the squad for the final Test at the Oval as a replacement for Pant.
Pant's absence is expected to be a significant blow to India's chances in the series. He has been a crucial player for the team, known for his aggressive batting and match-winning performances. The team management will need to rely on other players to step up and fill the gap left by Pant's injury. With the final Test approaching, India will be looking to overcome this setback and make a strong comeback in the series.
