Sabalenka enters final after defeating Anisimova, to face Rybakina for the title

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – Aryna Sabalenka defeated Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in the semifinals, setting up a match against Elena Rybakina for the WTA Finals Championship.
After a tense opening round against Amanda Anisimova, the match began to tilt in Sabalenka's favor, as she won the first set 6-3.
Aryna Sabalenka lost momentum early in the second set, and Anisimova took advantage, taking a 4-0 lead. It soon became clear that the match was heading to a deciding set, which Anisimova won 6-3.
Sabalenka found her rhythm in the third set. She hit consecutive aces to level the score at 3-3 and then secured the decisive break with a powerful backhand.
Sabalenka faced some pressure early on but the top seed held on to take the third set 6-3 to seal her place in the final.
Meanwhile, Rybakina came back from a set down to beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, maintaining her unbeaten streak and moving closer to winning the WTA Finals title.
Saturday's highly anticipated final will see the tournament's two undefeated players face off, both aiming to win their first Billie Jean King Trophy.
Last year's runner-up Sabalenka leads Rybakina 8-5 in their career matches, including victory in the 2023 Australian Open final.
Regarding her match against Elena Rybakina, Sabalenka said, "It's going to be another great match. I think Elena has prepared brilliantly with this match. I'm ready to fight for this beautiful trophy in the last match of the season."
