Greater Noida (The Uttam Hindu): Rinku Singh’s father, Khan Chand Singh, passed away on Friday morning after a prolonged battle with liver cancer. He was reportedly suffering from stage-four cancer and had been in critical condition for several days. When his health deteriorated on February 21, he was admitted to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, where he was kept on ventilator support. He died in the early hours of Friday, and the family later brought his body home.

The cricketer had rushed back from team commitments after learning about his father’s serious condition. He had been in Chennai for practice sessions but returned home to be with his family. After attending to family matters, he briefly rejoined the squad on February 25, although he did not feature in the playing eleven for the Super 8 match against Zimbabwe the following day.

Rinku Singh comes from a modest background, and his father worked as a gas cylinder delivery worker to support the family. With limited financial resources, the family members often assisted in the work, delivering cylinders to homes and businesses. Despite hardships, Rinku pursued cricket with determination, even pooling money with friends to buy basic equipment. His father’s sacrifices played a key role in his journey to becoming an international cricketer, and his passing has brought deep sorrow to the family and the sporting community.
