After the 20-20 overs match was tied, when the decision went to the super over, there too both the teams remained equal. After this, the result of the match was decided in the 'double super over' i.e. the second super over. After hard work and sweat, South Africa finally defeated Afghanistan and got important two points, whereas Afghanistan was disappointed despite a great game.

Ricky Ponting and De Kock's blistering knocks ensured the match ended in a tie at 187

Afghanistan almost out of the Super-8 race

After losing such a close match, the road ahead for Afghanistan has become extremely difficult. With this defeat, the team is virtually eliminated from the Super 8 race. Now, to stay in the tournament, Afghanistan will not only have to win both of their remaining matches, but also win by a significant margin to improve their net run rate. Furthermore, they will also have to depend on the performance of other teams and their win-loss dynamics.
