Sushil Kumar Returns to Work with Northern Railway After Bail

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Two-time Olympic medallist wrestler Sushil Kumar has officially resumed his duty with the Northern Railway after getting bail in a high-profile murder case, sources confirmed.
The iconic wrestler, once known as the star of Indian wrestling, reported to the railway office earlier this week, marking a major shift from courts to administrative work.
Sushil Kumar was in judicial custody since 2021 in connection with the murder of fellow wrestler Sagar Dhankar. The Delhi High Court recently granted him bail citing long delays in the trial process. However, the investigation is still on and Sushil Kumar's legal battle is not over.
Railway sources told IANS that Sushil Kumar, currently posted as Senior Commercial Manager in Northern Railway, came to work in formal dress.
Confirming his reinstatement, officials said the process was done as per service rules.
The reaction to Sushil Kumar's return has been mixed. Some have criticised the reinstatement of a man accused in a murder case, while others argue that Sushil Kumar is innocent until proven guilty and deserves to resume his professional responsibilities.
Sushil Kumar, who once made a name for himself at the national level, has gone from an Olympic podium (bronze in Beijing 2008 and silver in London 2012) to being accused of murder, which has stunned the entire nation.
For now, the star wrestler seems to be quietly focusing on returning to his normal life. However, the court proceedings are still ongoing, so the shadow of this case looms over his comeback efforts.
