The match between India and Pakistan was played on February 15th at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present at the stadium to watch the match. However, during the match, there was a lot of discussion about his premature departure from the stadium. According to a media report, a video showed him leaving the stadium before the match ended.
Speaking of the match, India, after losing the toss and batting first, scored 176 for 7 in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan played a crucial innings of 77 runs. In reply, Pakistan got off to a poor start and came under pressure after losing three wickets in the opening overs. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Mohammad Nawaz in the 12th over, further weakening the team's position.
Pakistan lost this match by 61 runs, which also affected its net run rate. With the win, India secured its place in the Super 8. Pakistan, meanwhile, moved up to third place in the Group A standings. The United States national cricket team, which has four points and a better net run rate than Pakistan, is in second place. Now, if Pakistan loses its next match against Namibia, it could be eliminated from the tournament.
