T20 World Cup schedule announced, India vs Pakistan match to be held on this date

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) – The 2026 Men's T20 World Cup will begin on February 7th, with the final scheduled for March 8th. Hosted by India and Sri Lanka, the tournament will be played at eight different venues. A high-voltage match between India and Pakistan is scheduled for February 15th.

The 20-team T20 World Cup 2026 will be divided into four groups. India are drawn in Group A, which also includes Pakistan, the Netherlands, the USA, and Namibia.

The Indian team will play the USA on February 7th, followed by a clash with Namibia on February 12th. Team India will then face Pakistan in a high-voltage match on February 15th. Team India will face the Netherlands on February 18th. Co-hosts Sri Lanka have been placed in Group B alongside 2021 champions Australia, which also includes Zimbabwe, Oman, and Ireland.

Group C includes England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Italy. Italy has qualified for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup for the first time. Group D includes New Zealand, Afghanistan, South Africa, Canada, and the UAE. India won the T20 World Cup in 2007 and 2024. Therefore, the Indian team will be defending its title in this World Cup. Rohit Sharma has been appointed the brand ambassador of the World Cup.

The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), Arun Jaitley Stadium (Delhi), MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), Eden Gardens (Kolkata), R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), Sinhalese Sports Club (Colombo) and Pallikele International Cricket Stadium (Kandy). The ICC also has other options for the semi-finals and final following an agreement reached earlier this year for a multi-nation tournament to be hosted by either India or Pakistan.

If Pakistan advances, they will play their semi-final and final in Colombo. If Pakistan does not reach the final, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the final on March 8. The semi-final matches will be played in Mumbai and Kolkata.
