From champions to group-stage teams: Full prize money breakdown of T20 World Cup 2026
India received about ₹27.5 crore as champions, while runner-up New Zealand and other teams also earned millions.

Ahmedabad (The Uttam Hindu) – The Indian cricket team has won the T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian team defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final match played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
This is the Indian team's second consecutive and third overall T20 World Cup title. Team India has become the first team in the world to win three T20 World Cups. It has also become the first team to win the T20 World Cup at home. Following this historic success, the ICC has showered the Indian team with money. The Indian team received $3 million as prize money from the ICC for becoming world champions. This amount is approximately 27.48 crore rupees in Indian rupees.
Runner-up New Zealand received $1.6 million (approximately ₹14.65 crore). South Africa and England, eliminated from the tournament after losing in the semi-finals, each received $790,000 (approximately ₹7.24 crore). The teams that reached the Super Eight received $380,000 (approximately ₹3.48 crore). Teams eliminated in the group stage were guaranteed $250,000 (approximately ₹2.29 crore).
The ICC had allocated a total budget of Rs 120 crore for this entire tournament.
If we look at the final match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and decided to bowl first. Batting first, the Indian team scored 255 runs for 5 wickets with the help of Sanju Samson's 89 runs in 46 balls with the help of 8 sixes and 5 fours, Abhishek Sharma's 52 runs in 21 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 6 fours, Ishan Kishan's 54 runs in 25 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes and Shivam Dubey's 26 runs in 8 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 3 fours.
Chasing the target of 256 runs, New Zealand was all out for 159 runs in 19 overs. Tim Seifert scored 52 runs in 26 balls and Mitchell Santner scored 43 runs in 35 balls. Daryl Mitchell scored 17 runs, rest of the batsmen could not reach double digits. From India's side Jasprit Bumrah took 4 wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs, Axar Patel took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 3 overs. Hardik Pandya, Varun Chakraborty and Abhishek Sharma got 1 wicket each. Sanju Samson, who scored 89 runs in the final, 97 not out against West Indies and 89 runs in the semi-final against England, was declared the Player of the Series. Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged the Player of the Match.
