Doha (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian A team, led by Jitesh Sharma, has made a stellar start to the ongoing Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament in Doha, Qatar. Team India defeated UAE by 148 runs in their first match. The biggest attraction of the match was 14-year-old left-handed opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a record-breaking innings of 144 runs in 42 balls. His innings included 11 fours and 15 sixes.


Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who created a unique record in T20, has been in the headlines ever since he scored a century in 35 balls in his debut match in IPL 2025. He completed the century in just 32 balls against UAE and became the only player in the world to score two centuries in 35 or less balls in T20 cricket. Before this achievement, no batsman could achieve such a feat. Vaibhav is now jointly at the second position with Rishabh Pant in the list of fastest centuries scored by an Indian in T20. The first position is held by Urvil Patel and Abhishek Sharma, who scored a century in 28 balls.


Most runs from boundaries in an innings, Iyer also behind. In the match against UAE, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 134 out of 144 runs of his innings from boundaries. This is a new record for Indian players for scoring most runs from boundaries in a T20 innings. Earlier this record was in the name of Puneet Bisht (126 runs, 2021). Shreyas Iyer is at third place, who scored 118 runs from boundaries against Sikkim in 2019. Vaibhav has also come at joint second place in terms of sixes. Puneet Bisht is at first place, who hit 17 sixes against Mizoram.
