London (The Uttam Hindu): Yannick Sinner fell and got injured during the early stages of his Wimbledon fourth round match against Grigor Dimitrov, after which world number-1 Sinner is planning to undergo an MRI scan to examine the injury.

However, Sinner has reached the fourth round of Wimbledon after Grigor Dimitrov had to retire from the match due to injury.

Sinner appeared to be heading towards defeat in the very first game of the fourth round matchup. Meanwhile, he injured his elbow during a seemingly innocuous slide on the ground. After this, he got a 'medical timeout'.

After recently parting ways with his physiotherapist and trainer, Sinner will now seek help from ATP Tour physios to treat his elbow.

Sinner said in the post-match press conference, "It was quite unfortunate to fall like that. I saw the video, it seemed that it was not serious, but still I felt a lot of pain, especially on the serve and forehand. I could feel the pain. Now let's see, we will check the injury tomorrow, then we will decide what to do next."

He further added, “ATP has good physiotherapists here. The doctors are also good. As I said, the MRI will show if there is anything serious, and then treatment will be done accordingly.”

In this match, Grigor Dimitrov was leading by two sets. Meanwhile, Dimitrov fell on the ground holding the 'pectoral muscle' under his right hand. By the time he finished the game, he was groaning in pain.

Dimitrov could barely lift his serving arm and had to retire due to injury. This is the fifth consecutive Grand Slam in which he has had to withdraw midway through the match.

Sinner, who reached the quarter-finals, will face Ben Shelton of America.
