Agra (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking case of police brutality has come to light in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. A young man was held hostage and brutally beaten at the Jeevani Mandi police post in the Chhata police station area. His toenails were pulled out with a spade, crossing all limits of brutality. The incident caused a stir in the police department. After being found guilty in the initial investigation, DCP City has suspended the accused post in-charge, Ravindra Rajput, with immediate effect.

Talibani punishment for refusing to leave the auto-rickshaw

The source of the dispute was trivial. According to reports, the outpost in-charge had asked the young man to drop him off at the police station via auto. When the young man refused for some reason, the police officers became enraged. It is alleged that the officers picked him up, brought him to the outpost, and held him hostage there.

Pulled nails with pliers, two sticks broke

The victim youth narrated his ordeal and described the brutality of the police. He told that inside the outpost, a constable held his legs and the outpost in-charge rained blows on the soles of his feet with sticks. The beating was so severe that two sticks broke during this. When the policemen were not satisfied even with this, they called for a spade and pulled out the toenails of the youth. The youth kept screaming in pain, but the khaki-clad men did not relent. The limit was crossed when after torturing him so much, the police instead issued a challan against the victim youth under sections of 'disturbing the peace'.

DCP suspended, ordered investigation

When this matter came to the attention of higher officials, the police department began to face criticism. Considering the seriousness of the case, the DCP City immediately ordered an investigation. The preliminary investigation found outpost in-charge Ravindra Rajput guilty, following which he was suspended with immediate effect. The DCP clarified that such brutality against any citizen will not be tolerated. A departmental inquiry has been initiated to thoroughly investigate the matter, and based on its report, further strict legal action will be taken.
